International Glass Symposium 2018, Novy Bor, Czech Republic

The International Glass Symposium (IGS) is held every 3 years in and around Novy Bor in the Czech Republic. It is a 4 day event with demonstrations happening at a number of different studios ad factories around the local area. Different studios invited glass artists from around the world to work with their teams to create amazing works of art that get exhibited on the final day in the town hall.

This year saw Nick Mount (AUS), Raven Skyriver (USA), Rob Stern (USA), Jeffrey Sarmiento (USA/UK), Louis Thompson & Hanne Enemark (UK) to name a few. Each working on their signature artworks/styles but with the teams and creating new pieces.

The surrounding area is one of natural beauty and it is definitely worth taking a trip out to see the local churches or walk the rocks. The final night sees a closing party at Juri Pacinek studio where they create one large scale artwork to try and include all of the artists who took part in IGS 2018. It is a wonderful community and it all happens in such an incredible location. I cannot wait to go back in 2021 to see what will be happening and what creations will be made ……..
