Illuminated Sketchbook, Urban Glass
In November 2019 I travelled to New York to take a week long masterclass with Jen Elek and Jeremy Bert, 2 incredibly talented and awe inspiring teachers. Jen specialises in blown glass and Jeremy in neon, together they create amazing artworks and this course was about sharing their skills and mindsets. The course took place at Urban Glass in Brooklyn and what an incredible space it is, from arriving you are filled with a sense that creativity is all around you and you cannot help but be inspired.
The course was in the evenings and so in the daytime I explored New York in the mornings and then in the afternoons I would hire a torch and practice as much as I could remember from the night before. Jen and Jeremy were so knowledgeable and they both helped and pushed you to achieve some amazing work. Megan Stelljes and Emily Craddock (the 2 TA’s) worked with you whenever you required and it was one of the best courses I have ever taken.
